Lower Elementary (PrePrimary-Grade 2)


Highlight

Hands on learning. PP to P is play-based learning; Grades 1-2 is cooperative learning.

Academics

Our lower elementary programs are rich in hands-on learning experiences as well as cooperative learning experiences. Students in lower elementary are introduced to concepts regarding: Bible, letters & sounds, phonics, reading, mathematics, writing, physical education and development of their fine and gross motor skill.


Classroom Structure

Our Early Elementary programs are designed to introduce core concepts along with providing time for student exploration through play. Our schedules have time built in for our Lower Elementary students to develop through interactions with their peers.

Upper Elementary (Grades 3-6)


Highlight

Our elementary program offers a strong foundation for all future educational endeavors. Focusing on high-level proficiency in mathematics and reading, our elementary students explore the world through numerous subjects of study.

Academics

Students in our upper elementary classes are guided in academic skills through instruction in the following subjects: Bible, reading, mathematics, long division, cursive writing, spelling, penmanship, language, grammar, physical education, health, science, and social studies.

Class Structure

Our upper elementary classes are structured for cooperative learning. This helps to develop character qualities such as responsibility, consideration, self-discipline, and teamwork.

Homework

Students in grades 3-6 have nightly homework. This practice provides the level of practice necessary to allow and strengthen memory and skill development. Homework is also a great way for parents to become involved in the lives and education of their children.

Junior High/High School


Highlight 

Our junior high and high school programs build on the strong foundation developed in the elementary grades, while allowing new students to join us each year. The curriculum and teacher-student interactions are a great preparation for all future educational endeavors. Focusing on high-level proficiency in mathematics, writing, and reading, our junior high and high school students explore the world through numerous subjects of study.

Curriculum

Students in our junior high classes are guided in academic skills through instruction in the following subjects: Bible, reading, mathematics, writing, spelling, language and grammar, physical education, health and manners, science, and social studies. Students in our high school classes are guided in academic skills through instruction in the following subjects: Bible, reading, mathematics, writing, grammar, keyboarding, world history, world geography, Atlantic studies, professional communications, Canadian history, law, physical education, health, and career & life management. Other courses offered for our high school students include drama, physical science, physics, biology, and chemistry. A Beka, LifeWay, Breakwater/Prentice Hall Ginn, BJU Press, Thomas Nelson, Nelson Canada, Kendall/Hunt, McGraw-Hill Ryerson, Answers Academy and Creation Ministries International, ACSI, and teacher-developed curriculum resources are used in our junior high and high school classes.

Class structure

Students in our junior high and high school benefit from multi-level classes. Grade levels are grouped as follows: grades 7 & 8, grades 9 & 10, grades 11 & 12. This provides opportunities for students to learn from peers their own age, slightly older and slightly younger. This helps to develop character qualities such as responsibility, consideration, self-discipline, and teamwork.

Homework

Students in grades 7-12 have nightly homework. This practice provides the level of practice necessary to allow and strengthen memory and skill development. Homework is also a great way to prepare for the rigors of post-secondary educational opportunities.
